We offer programs for foster-to-adopt, domestic adoptions, and provide other adoption services upon request. Admissions Information Referrals for our program can be made by addictions treatment program, social workers, courts, legal or other service provider advocating for the women seeking services. There is no fee for admission but all new clients will complete a SNAP application for food stamps . The food stamps will be used to help provide the meals and snacks while the client is in residential treatment. Most clients will pay no fees until they begin employment – approximately 3 to 6 months into the program. Once income begins, clients contribute about 30% of their gross income toward their room and board.

Our aftercare and outpatient program provides clients with support, guidance, and continued treatment following the completion of our residential treatment program. The Board of Directors of Chrysalis House are proud to announce the appointment of Kama McKinney as the Executive Director. Established in 1978, Chrysalis House is the oldest and largest licensed substance abuse treatment program in Kentucky devoted to supporting women and their families in recovery from alcohol and other drug abuse. Chrysalis House provides substance use and mental health treatment services for women 18 years of age and older, while allowing their children to live onsite during their mother's program of recovery. We are located in Crownsville, Maryland and serve women from across the state. Chrysalis House believes in collaboration and maintains over seventy contracts or agreements with community partners.

Chrysalis House is a safe and non-judgmental environment providing shelter and outreach services for women and children. These services include support, advocacy, referrals, resources, public education and community development. We recognize that oppression exists in a multitude of forms and are proactive in empowering women to have hope and make their own choices to live free from violence and abuse. ​Chrysalis House provides crisis, shelter, support, outreach, advocacy and transitional services for women and their children who have experienced or are at risk of experiencing violence and abuse. Our catchment area includes Kings, Annapolis and West Hants counties in Nova Scotia. We also provide support and information for family, friends and community members in relation to violence against women.

Treatment Phases

Newborns and children under two years old may reside with their mothers full time. Older children are welcome to spend nights and weekends with their mothers when it does not interfere with the child’s schooling or the mother’s participation in programming. To support women and their families in recovery from alcohol and other drugs. We provide education and support to women facing an unplanned pregnancy as well as adoption planning if requested.

The treatment process is not an event but rather a gradual process that moves the woman toward lasting recovery. Founded in 1986, Chrysalis House, Inc. is one of Maryland’s premier providers of addiction treatment services for women and their children. The organization has grown from a 10 bed program in Pasadena, Maryland to a regional agency serving over 100 women annually.

Chrysalis House’s residential treatment programs are accredited by CARF. By pursuing and achieving accreditation, Chrysalis House demonstrates international standards for quality and is committed to pursuing excellence. Three of our residential facilities accommodate pregnant women and women with children.

AFTERCARE/INDEPENDENT LIVING is phase four of treatment outside of the residential setting. Clinical Support Services assist clients in maintaining their recovery. Our clinicians will provide you with assessments and counseling for making a long-lasting positive change. We’ll provide your family members with valuable knowledge about the disease of addiction. The program lasts three to six months, depending on the individual client’s level of need.

We allow mothers to keep their newborns and toddlers on-site with them while in residential treatment. Admission of pregnant women is prioritized to ameliorate the effects of alcohol or drugs on the unborn child. Almost 50% of women entering Chrysalis House are pregnant and deliver babies while in the program. Chrysalis House is a comprehensive agency with three residential facilities, a forty-unit apartment complex, a 18,000 square foot, multi-purpose community center, and outpatient program.
